Deutsche Messe AG / Opening Hanover Trade fair 2016

Opening Ceremony

HANNOVER MESSE is the world’s leading trade fair for industrial technology. In 2016, the partner country was the USA and President Barack Obama paid a special visit.

Task: Although the President’s visit involved complex organisational and security-related challenges, the organisers hoped to exploit the resulting extensive media coverage to build  the HANNOVER MESSE brand and extend its leading role. Moreover Integrated Industry, the fair’s lead theme, had to reflect in a tangible, inspiring and contemporary way.

Idea: We staged a multimedia, interactive live performance depicting the intelligent and intuitive collaboration between people and the latest generation of sensitive robots that showcased the symbiosis of the digital and manufacturing worlds. Ballet Mecanique 4.0 – combining street dance, artistry & LED show with latest-generation robotics, starring six Flying Steps performers and seven highly sensitive and adaptive robots.

Challenge: To synchronise complex robotic controls with media content and choreography. On stage, a vision of what integrated industry might look like materialised: creative interaction between man and machine. The technical concept is brilliant, combining high tech with human touch!
